It has been a very busy three months for me and I am starting to feel it….
Two trips in December and I just returned from my third trip about three weeks ago. My daughter has switched volleyball clubs midseason and the transition is complete. I have three amazing events scheduled on March 30, April 14 and May 5. Work has also changed a lot for me in the last two weeks and it is no longer the same job I had been doing (it seems). It was a sudden and quick adjustment for me as well as my coworkers. I’m trying to figure out how to move forward and learn all that I need to know ASAP.
I have been able to share the foundation with so many people and in so many different ways. I’ve received generous donations and have been given an amazing opportunity to partner together on a much needed grant! 2018 started off with a bang and I am so thrilled to be able to connect and work with amazing human beings!
I have been feeling a little overwhelmed at times but have been able to manage and adjust to stay healthy and bounce back with each exciting moment and new adventure in my life. Blessed. I am very sensitive and can tell when my body is feeling stressed. I see and feel the symptoms pretty quickly and work hard to stop whatever I am doing to relieve the stress and not experience a flare. I have had a couple of little flares where I felt flush, nauseated and achy. Thankfully, because I am aware of my body and how it reacts I was only a little fatigued for a day and then bounced back in a couple of days.
I need to share my trip to Utah and how it affected my body. It was definitely cold but I was well prepared since I had traveled to Colorado Springs in December. I was in a good place and my body adjusted well. There was only one real issue that I had and it was with my eyes. I expected my eyes to be a little more dry and red because of the cold weather and wind. What I didn’t expect and plan for was the salt in the air. Yes, I was in Salt Lake City, Utah. I have never been to Utah and didn’t really expect anything different that might affect my Sjögren’s syndrome and me. Wow….the salt in the air there is strong and my eyes were literally bloodshot red everyday I was there! They weren’t sore, no pain or grittiness. Just red and dry. I kept putting drops in my eyes all day and it didn’t help the redness. Once I came home and started my prescription eye drops I found relief within a day.
I’ve been working extra hard to adjust and get back to a semi normalish life after all that’s been happening in the last three months (let’s be honest my life is not normal). I thought everything had been going smoothly (I thought) until last week…..
The passing of a very special person who is a very near and dear loved one has put my life on pause….for now. In a way I see it as a blessing in disguise to help me see how my life has been moving a little too quickly lately. I sometimes get so caught up in all that’s happening that I lose sight of what’s most important to me. I will be honest though and say I did recognize what was happening and was in the process of making adjustments. I wasn’t fast enough and it was done for me.
It’s been a restful few days and I am feeling a bit stronger. Having this time off from everything has allowed me to enjoy Yoga Nidra and Crystal Bowl Sound Meditation with Emma Kupu Mitchell. She is the most awesome teacher and has so much knowledge that she can help heal me and bring me back to earth pretty quickly! This is an amazing and very hard job for anyone to do (which I’m sure many are agreeing to as they read this).
START EACH DAY WITH A GRATEFUL HEART!
Please remember everyone’s body is different and unique. Always discuss any areas of concern about your autoimmune disease with your doctor.
Hugs to all…..You can do it!
