I have a wonderful story about how Jodie and I met……
I myself met Lisa Maneki Baxa who is the Publisher and Editor of the HMSA Island Scene in 2012. I emailed her hoping to be able to share my story about living with Sjögren’s syndrome. I wanted to raise awareness about my autoimmune disease and help others to learn more about it. I was successful in writing two articles for Lisa and have been friends with her ever since.
So…..fast forward to 2016 and I received an email from Lisa. She wanted to share with me that she met someone who might be interested in working together with me and my love of writing. Of course I was excited to meet this person!
Lisa introduced Jodie and I by email and it was a match made in heaven…..
Jodie is always excited to share her love of writing with those living with an autoimmune disease just like me and enjoys making a difference in the lives of many who might benefit from writing.
Jodie Chiemi Ching is the founder of One Lucky Local. After experiencing two autoimmune diseases— Guillain Barre Syndrome in 2011 and Lupus in 2015—she ditched her pursuit of a CPA designation to focus on her love for writing. Rather than calling them “diseases,” she likes to call them autoimmune “teachers.” She feels lucky for having had these “teachers,” because she has learned the importance of following her heart. Jodie has a Bachelor’s Degree in Japanese and a Graduate Certificate in Accounting. As a recipient of the Okinawa Prefecture Emigrant Descendant’s Student Program Scholarship, she has lived abroad attending the University of the Ryūkyūs. Blending her journalistic abilities with over ten years of experience in accounting, and a love for the diverse cultures of the world, Jodie is happy to support others wellness and life goals through writing.
Come and join her at the conference and experience Writing for Wellness: Gratitude and Forgiveness after lunch from 1-3pm.
