I met Dr. Garcia in 2012 when I was referred to her for a growth on my right ear. When I met her and explained that it had come quick and fast, she knew exactly what to do. I instantly felt at ease knowing that she would be able to help me.
Fast forward five years and she has been an awesome dermatologist for me! I had two other cancerous areas on my body that she caught and was able to take care of quickly. Her knowledge, skills and experience are beneficial in helping patients figure out what’s going on with their body.
She has also gone above and beyond to help educate and raise awareness for both Sjögren’s syndrome and Lupus in Hawaii. She has been an integral part in building the Sjögren’s and Lupus Foundation of Hawaii and is the current Vice President on the Board of Directors.
Dr. Garcia started her medical training at the John A Burns School of Medicine. She completed a fellowship in autoimmune diseases of the skin at Stanford Department of Dermatology before completing her residency at UC Davis Department of Dermatology.
She currently has a private practice with two other female dermatologists at Queens POB 2. Dr. Garcia enjoy’s all aspects of dermatology including medical, surgical and cosmetic dermatology services for patients of all ages.
She is married and busy with two boys.
Dr. Garcia wanted to share with everyone a little bit about her journey as a dermatologist…..
Why did you decide to practice dermatology?
I was thinking about specialties and initially wanted to do primary care. However I realized that dermatologists were the happiest group of physicians and after shadowing a community physician, I realized that I loved taking care of the skin and doing procedures such as surgeries and injections. I am passionate about skin care and sun protection and that helps me in my everyday life and my medical practice.
And some fun facts…..
Tell us something that your patients don’t know about you.
I love to exercise – all different types. Currently I enjoy yoga and going to the gym for boot camp and boxing classes and weightlifting. I also like trying new things!
Always be healthy and happy!
START EACH DAY WITH A GRATEFUL HEART!
Please remember everyone’s body is different and unique. Always discuss any areas of concern about your autoimmune disease with your doctor.
Hugs to all…..You can do it!
Don’t be afraid of failure. If you never try, you will never succeed.
